1. The world is trying to keep you stupid. From bank fees to interest rates to miracle diets, people who are not educated are easier to get money from and easier to lead. Educate yourself as much as possible for wealth, independence, and happiness.
2. Do not have faith in institutions to…
Quite simply, I give up. If someone isn’t a good influence on your life and is constantly making you feel negative and angsty, cut them out.
Sure, there’re are plenty of worse men, but nevertheless, it’s equally misfortunate to be biologically related to this obstinate idiot.
is that if you wanna change the world for the better, to make a difference and weed out the bad elements, you cannot take things lying down.
Nobody might be so noble as to do the right thing all the time, 100% of the time, but what we can do is to accept when we’ve done something wrong and work to correct our mistakes such that it never happens again.
I think I was meek and probably too easy going in my younger days despite having the right ideas (I hope).
Now I learnt better. The first and the hardest step is always speaking up. Once you speak up, especially for the right things, the impetus for change is cast.
And I DO want to make the world a better place to live in. Truly, that is one strongest factors which played into me coming back to this career, even after I’ve already left.
Merely frustrated at the arduous process it takes to become the complete package. 3 steps forward, 2 steps back.
Come to think of it, I’m more inclined as a student of life than any academic major.
School gives you ammunition, but you’re useless if you don’t learn how to use the gun in every conceivable situation as well.
If education is about learning not merely content but skills, as it should be, then I’ve learnt all I can from this place.
If a man were to die at 75 years of age, he’d have spent 1/3 of his life in school. Think about it. 1/3 of your life spent cramming your brain full of stuff, more than half of which would have no consequence in your adult working life.
Schools should teach life skills as much as, if not more so than, content. Content can be self-learnt elsewhere if one has the requisite interest. Skills are much harder to acquire, and very often, it is these life skills or technical skills that influence our work success.
That’s the key difference between polytechnic and local research universities. Previously, I learnt the how as much as the why of my field of study. Now, I learn largely about the why, but hardly the how.
So think about what you’re doing in university. Seems like its necessity is just to produce a piece of paper that certifies you know much about unimportant stuff.
I could go on and write a full argumentative piece on this. But suffice to say, the gist proves my point.
